The first meeting of the newly elected TRAN Committee will take place on Wednesday 24 July from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 15:00 to 18:30 in Brussels. The meeting will be webstreamed.

On the agenda:

1) The European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport, Mrs Violeta Bulc, will welcome the new TRAN Committee Members and present the Commission's priority files for the coming months.

2) The TRAN committee will have a discussion on the progress and potential of modal shift from road to more sustainable transport modes, with respect to the policy objectives set in the 2011 White Paper on transport. The study Modal shift in the European transport: a way forward, presented by Mr Enrico Pastori, TRT Trasporti e Territorio, will focus both on passenger and freight transport, highlighting main barriers and factors that are hampering a more effective modal shift at EU level and providing policy recommendations for the way forward.


The EP Transport & Tourism (TRAN) Committee held its consituent meeting on 10 July in Brussels.

Karima Delli (Greens, France) has been reelected as Chair of the TRAN Committee.

The TRAN Committee also elected its Vice-Chairs:

  • 1st Vice-Chair: Johan Danielsson (S&D, Sweden)
  • 2nd Vice-Chair: Sven Schulze (EPP, Germany)
  • 3rd Vice-Chair: István Ujhelyi (S&D, Hungary)
  • 4th Vice-Chair: Jan-Christoph Oetjen (Renew Europe, Germany)

The Chair and Vice-Chairs are elected for a two-and-a-half-year term.
